Pray for Slovakia

  • Full Name: Slovak Republic

  • Population: 5,483,088 (July 2012 est.)

  • GNI: $16,080 (2009 est.)

  • Prayer requests:
    • Pray for those embedded in cultural Catholicism, that they may abandon religion, and come to know what it means to have a personal relationship with the Living God.
    • Pray for the Roma people (sometimes referred to as gypsies), an ethnic group that resides in Slovakia, as well as throughout Europe. According to the Slovak Spectator, “LIVING in poverty, receiving inadequate education, and then facing dismal chances of finding work in a tight labour market. Those are three disadvantages that Roma citizens, who often live in shantytowns on the outskirts of villages and towns, face every day, along with open or latent prejudice from the majority population.” Pray that laborers would be raised up to minister to this people group, and that they may become citizens of the Heavenly Kingdom.
    • There is tension between the Slovak majority and the Hungarian minority.  Pray for peace between these two people groups.
